This was our first project, which was commenced and successfully completed in the same year. The Children's Aid Senegal has been implementing school and education projects in the Casamance region since 1991. The preschool in Baila is the oldest persisting project and has been up and running since 1998.

 

30 children are taught and cared for in each of the traditional circular buildings, while the government teachers receive ongoing support. At the beginning there were three round houses for 90 children. In 2005 a fourth building was added to accommodate 120 children in total.

 

With the number of children rising to 180, a fifth building was urgently required. This was funded by our foundation and errected in 2014.

 

In autumn, at the beginning of the school year, the state provided a teacher and the new building was handed over fully equipped.
