SCHOOL LIBRARY BURKINA FASO
NEIA (Sustainable Development in Africa) was founded in 2006 and has been supporting projects for women and children ever since. In 2018, the association opened the first kindergarten in Dédougou (Burkina Faso), followed by an elementary school in 2018 and a vocational school in 2022. Currently, 600 children are taught and provided with a meal at the school.
Half of the students are displaced people who have had to leave their villages due to terrorism. Their parents have poor levels of education and are therefore unable to help their children wit the school homework. A library will be built for these pupils in 2024, which will also be open to other children in the neighbourhood. Interacting with books helps them to discover the joy of reading, acquire knowledge from literature and improve their French.
The library consists of a reading room and a computer room. In addition to the construction, our support also includes the furnishing and initial equipment as well as the first-time implementation by a librarian.
