CARPENTRY APPRENTICESHIP
BURKINA FASO

With the support of NEIA e.V. , Fanta Yanna (who comes from Dedougou in Burkina Faso and studied in Germany) rented a room on site in 2016 where children from illiterate families received tutoring.  Following a kindergarten, a primary school was opened in 2018 and a vocational school in 2022. We have already supported the construction and equipment of the school library.

In 2025, the vocational school will be expanded to create a carpentry training workshop. The construction of the building has been completed and a solar power system is in place to power the carpentry workshop. This time, the foundation is funding the equipment of the training workshop with the necessary carpentry machines and tools.

The vocational school in Dedougou is one of the few advanced training programmes available to young people. With this unique apprenticeship in the city, they have very good job opportunities after graduation. This gives them perspectives and keeps them from crime or emigration. Every year, 30 young people are expected to receive their state-certified degree.
