STREET CHILDREN INTEGRATION
TOGO

The Munich-based Urbis Foundation has been working in Togo since 2002 in the areas of sustainable agriculture, solar energy, education, health and social welfare. In a pilot project funded by us, the field of work will be expanded in 2025 to include the reintegration of street children.

These children come from socially disadvantaged backgrounds – often from poor, single-parent or broken families. They are forced to live on the streets because their parents are unable to meet their basic needs.

Twenty-two under-18s who are willing to participate in training measures will be choden. The selection will be made in collaboration with the social welfare office of the city of Sokodé, which has vast experience with street children. The local partner Creuset Togo, which runs a child protection centre in Sokodé, is involved in the project. The young people receive intensive support over a period of 12 months. The project objective is considered to have been achieved if 16 of them attend school or training at the end of the programme.
