CAMEL MILK COOPERATIVE
NIGER

Since 2011, we have been working with Tamat - Friends of the Tuareg, first in Mali and then in Niger. 66% of the Nigerien population is under 25. It is an immense challenge to organise school and vocational education for them and to create income opportunities. This is the starting point for the CLC camel milk cooperative near the city of Agadez.

60,000 of the 180,000 inhabitants of Agadez are of nomadic origin (Tuareg, Peulh, Arab) and greatly appreciate fresh camel milk. Regardless of cultural preferences, camel milk is also very good for one's health. The project's objectives are to reduce the consumption of dried milk by children, create new sources of income for camel owners, and provide incentives for the establishment of further camel milk cooperatives.

To this end, eight training courses on hygiene and proper supplementary feeding will be held at the cooperative farm from 2025 to 2027. A further eight training courses on marketing and accounting will follow at the Agadez vocational training centre, which is run by Salver Africa , Tamat's partner.
