GREEN CLASSROOM CAMBODIA

STATTwerke has been supporting the Don Bosco Technical School in Kep, Cambodia for 10 years, a school dedicated to helping children from rural and indigenous communities. The school promotes environmental responsibility and cultural identity alongside education.

The planned Green Classroom construction project is inspired by Khmer architecture and blends harmoniously into the landscape of Kep National Park. The bamboo construction draws on traditional stylistic elements combined with modern ecological principles. This creates a learning space that is both functional and culturally rooted. The central classroom building measures 10 by 10 metres and can accommodate 50 pupils and two teachers.

Outside, there are permaculture beds for growing vegetables, medicinal plants and rice. Composting stations, recycling areas and ponds promote biodiversity. The site is a living ecosystem in which nature is not viewed as a subject of learning, but as a learning partner. The aim is to help young people understand ecological interconnections and develop a sense of self-efficacy.
